What it does

For insulation board on a wall or a roof. Pull the spring trigger and the blade heats. It reaches up to 1,000°F in seven seconds. Let go and it starts to cool, which is the safety feature.

A dial with 16 steps sets the power for thin KT board or thick XPS. The blades are nickel-chromium alloy.

It is a step in one of our job rows: Cut and shape foam.

Good to know before you buy

  • Rated for short runs with rests between, not for cutting all day.
  • Cut foam outdoors or with a fan. The fumes are not for breathing.
  • Do not use it on PVC foam or memory foam.

Thin bendy blades

Cuts fine, but be sure to go slow. The blades are very thin (by design) so when they're hot they bend VERY easily if you force them. Turn the heat up, go slow, let the weight of the knife do the work, and use a gentle sawing motion for best results. Also, only comes with two blades, not three as shown. Knocking one star for not coming with the third blade.

Powerful Cutter!

Bought this and was hesitant. After turning the temperature up and using it. It is very hot and powerful. Cuts through foam board like butter. Makes this task easy and effortless.Keep in mind it melts the foamboard. So use in a ventilated area. Not inside.Definitely worth buying. Very effect cutter.

Hot stuff! Be careful!

Mom buys a lot of QVC food that comes in big Styrofoam boxes. They were piling up because sanitation wont take them uncrushed and crushing creates a mess, so I got this to cut the boxes in to smaller chunks they'll take. Be very careful with the heat setting!
