DOMINOX pipe size finder
Every bar is one tool. It starts at the smallest outside diameter the tool takes and ends at the largest.
How to measure
- Measure across the outside of the pipe with a caliper or an adjustable wrench and a ruler.
- Do not trust the size printed on plastic pipe. A pipe sold as 1-1/2 inch PVC measures about 1.9 inches across.
- Copper water tube is named 1/8 inch under what it measures: 1/2 inch tube is 5/8 across.
- If your pipe sits on a limit, take the next tool up.
What a diameter does not tell you
- Wall thickness. The wheel cutters take walls under 0.1 inch.
- Material beyond the two groups. Steel pipe and conduit need other tools.
- Space to work. A long-handled cutter needs room to swing.
